custom brush

If you have a sketch of a flower and scan it onto the computer, it then has a white (or any colored background), with black ink.....Does anyone have any idea how to erase all but just the image in black, so it doesnt 'stamp' as a block but just as the image itself?
Thanks for the help, CM

If you are using PS, select the magic eraser and click in the area you want to delete. the background should disappear.

whichever program you use click here http://scrapbook-bytes.com/cgi-scrip...sh/index.shtml and select your program from the list and then browse for the tutorial that refers to removing white or solid colour from images.

If you're using photoshop, and you want to make your flower into a brush, put a Hue>Saturation adjustment layer over it. In the dialog, drag the Saturation slider all the way to the left to desaturate the picture (turn it to grey-scale).

If your background was white to begin with, then you can proceed to make your brush below. If your background was colored, you may have to add a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer and adjust it until the background is white.

Merge the layers. Use your Rectangular Marquee tool and draw a rectangle around the flower. Choose Edit>Define Brush Preset to make the brush.
