DVD slide show resolution?

What resolution should I make my images that I want to put into a slide show that will be burned on to a DVD for TV viewing? I have a Mac and iphoto, but I can't find that information anywhere in the instructions.

TIA!

I'm by no means an expert on this matter having a grand total of ONE slide show/video created and burned to DVD <grin> but I just finished one and I sized my photos to 72dpi because I really couldn't find any information anywhere telling me what dpi would be best. My theory was that if a computer monitor only makes use of 72dpi that would probably be the best resolution for video. I was also concerned about the file size of the photos and the ability to get as many as possible into the DVD show. I was quite happy with the quality of the finished product when viewed on the TV.

I just read an article on this that said that DVD resolution is 720X480, VCD is 352X240 and SVCD is 480X480.

well, I have done several dvd projects and i definitely can tell a difference between a high res and a low res on the screen. Keep in mind that dvd's have typically over 4 GIGAbytes and therefore can hold ALOT of stuff! I mean, we're talking an entire movie here!
I used my scrapbook stuff on my last slideshow, which we're talking about papers, elements, and photos on each screen. I kept everything at 300 dpi including scanned photos. I saved every frame at a maximum quality of 12 as well. I had 13 frames and only used about1/50th of the total DVD size! I don't know about you, but my slideshow program has a little picture of a cd at the bottom of the screen that slowly fills up as you ad images to the slide show so you can see how much you've used and how much you have left to work with. But I would say that unless you plan to put 500 photos on a dvd, you should be fine with saving at 300 dpi on maximum quality. I hope that helps you out! GOod luck!

What slide show software program are you using? Many of them, if not all, will automatically compress the resolution for you, so what you may be seeing may not be in 300 dpi. I know I tried that and all my pictures came out very fuzzy, very bad. Of course if you are saving for the computer it won't matter, but if you are viewing on a TV it does.

i use sonic now dvd slideshow software. As far as I can tell, it doesn't compress the images. They look very clear on my tv.
