Question about errors/typos
I'm not exactly sure how to word my question, so bear with me.
In my day job, I edit children's books. Since I am trained to watch for errors, every so often I see typos or errors in layouts (even my own!). If you catch something, do you point it out or leave it be? What do people prefer?
I don't want to come off as sounding critical. I make mistakes sometimes too, and I would hate to print something with a big error in it, especially because of my job and because I come from a family of English majors who would notice anything. But I realize that it may not be as important to other people. I do think it is most important for a layout to be honest. Maybe a layout is more authentic if it has misspellings or other errors. Plus, I know that we are an international community where not everybody is a native English speaker.
The kinds of errors I'm talking about include misused apostrophes, "then" instead of "than," "your" instead of "you're"--things like that. If you had that type of error in your layout, would you want to know?
I was thinking I could just send the person on private message if I see something. But again, I don't want to come off as the grammar police or anything.
If anybody ever sees anything on my layouts, feel free to shoot me a message! (I know at least one of the layouts I have posted right now has a typo. I saw it after I posted it and haven't had a chance to fix it yet.)
Thanks!
Megan
