OMG - I almost lost everything!

Thank God for my external HD! I lost the entire contents of my Projects folder, which is all my layouts. I don't know how it happened, but the folder is empty. I have it all backed up, thank God! I don't know how it happened but take my advice - backup, backup, backup!!

Always a good reminder! Glad you had it all backed up. I recently lost five years of stuff here at work. I know I had some of it on a disk from a year or two back but can't find the disk- actually I think it was on a CD-RW that may have gone bad.

Are the external hard drives easier to use than CD's? Are they as stable as a CD-R? I know the part I had that went bad here at work was the actual hard drive and the IT person that came to replace it said there are a bunch of computers with that hard drive and they see them crash quite often.

I just recently bought an extenal hard drive and find it easy to use. Just one reminder.......you still need to back your files up to a CD, as hard drives can fail or you might get a virus....who knows! I have a small binder for CDs as well as a zipped "notebook" that hold 128 CDs. When I do my backup CDs, I always make two...one goes into the small notebook to have on hand here in my office at home and the other copy goes into the large zipped binder. That way if we have to evacuate due to for instance, a hurricane (I live in FL), then all I have to do is grab that zipped binder on the way out the door! I even keep all my software CDs in the lg. binder! Just last week, I bought another 128 CD binder from Walmart.......as the one I already have is almost full.
