I’m new to digital and would like to know how long it takes to download kits? Should it take hours?

that depends on the size of the kit and if you are on high speed internet or dial up. I'm on cable, and it never takes more than a few seconds to a couple of minutes maybe? never timed it but it's pretty quick.

Umm yes, if you are on dial-up it can take hours!
If you have the opportunity to switch to broadband or something else, you should seriously consider it.
My phone line isn't suitable for broadband, so dialup is all I can use, and some downloads, depending on the size of the kit and the speed of the connection, can take hours. If the connection breaks and you don't have a download manager, you have to start all over again!
That's why I like it when people break up their kits into more manageable zip files, so that I can go back and get the next one at another time.. or leave to download over night. Make sure too that your automatic updates are not running at the same time as it will affect your download speed.
