DVD Burner Recommendations

OK, I'm about to tackle scanning in and saving about 40 years worth of slides. (Anyone want to come over and help???? )

I want to get a DVD burner (external) so I don't have to stop and burn a cd ever time I turn around.

Anyone have a recommendation for an external dvd burner that they've been pleased with?

Thanks in advance and Happy Monday!

I purchased an external Iomega 16x DVD Dual Format burner in the beginning of the year and have been very happy with it. I used it with my laptop. It is so much faster than the one on DH's desktop.

Costco doesn't carry it anymore but I noticed that the Iomega site has some promotions going on. They also have a refurbish section too.

I bought an LG external DVD burner from TigerDirect for $99. It is a dual-sided burner that can burn and read all formats (including DVD-RAM). I have been very happy with it and have used it a lot as I have been transferring home movies from Hi-8 to DVD.

If I was in the market for a cd burner right now, I'd purchase one with LightScribe technology. If I'm not mistaken, this is offered only by HP. LightScribe allows you to burn your label onto the CD. No more messy stickers.

I just purchased the Sony DVD direct. You can make menu's and chapters. If you have taped video from your camera it can convert it to DVD format.
