teaching a design class to high schoolers...

and wondering what you all felt were the most important elements to a well designed scrapbook page.

i know...big question.

but, truly, what is most important, in your opinion with typography?

layout?

color?

etc?

and if you have any "tricks" that you wish to share!

thanks in advance, the class is in 1 week....

Interesting.. is this in school class or an after school thing.. just ciuors.

In the end.. the most imporatnt thing about a layout is flow - the layout should flow so your eyes move around the page and focus on the important design elements you've created. It is the same in photography.. rule of 3rd's, focus points, dimension.. these are things important in all aspect of design. Good lcuk iwth the class!

I am a big Christopher Lowell fan. I apply his Seven-Layers-of-Design rules to my scrapbooking as well. There is no such thing like ONE important thing. In an well done design, everything has it's importance. I think of the Lowell's first layer of Design as my background, the second layer would be paper mats, the third layer my pictures, the fourth layer picture frames and so on until you get to the seventh layer that would be some well chosen elements. You need to give thought to every single layer to compose a harmonic design.
