Well, i just tried to alter it with the "Fill and texture" key -
the only problem is the brown co;or is acting like a base coat of paint. Therefore I cannot achieve any true colors...can I?

Do you have a "hue/saturation" setting. If you can find that you'll be able to adjust the color truly. Just slide the hue slider around. I'm referring to PS Elements or PS7. I think it's under "adjustments". I'm in a rush...but try to find that. It should work like a charm. If it doesn't, reply and I'll try to point you out in the right direction.
