Making journals/inspirational books

Hello All,
This is new to me, and I apologize if the question doesn't belong here.

My children would like to make journals for their teachers at the end of the year. We would like to use some of the blank journals that you can find at Borders. I know how to make a fabric cover, but my concern is with the inside. We would like to have an inspirational quote, image, etc on, say, the left hand page. Then leave the right hand page blank for them to write.

How would you do this? Can you use an existing journal? Would you just create the images and text and "paste" it into the journal? Or is it better to essentially make a book from scratch?

Thanks for ANY direction you can give.
J~

Lightbulb Journal idea

If you know how to make a cover then you can use the computer to the left part (and the cover). Open a 12x12 paper and divide it into a 6x12 (to make a 6x6 book). In your graphics program, design the left part with inspirational quotes or whatever you want. Print the pages cut it in half and you can either use some colorful staples or sew to put the book together. Your kids can then write on the right side of the journal.

This method should be pretty affordable. since the booklet might just be a few pages (one 12x12 will create 4-6x6 pages).

If you want to go the traditional route, you can use rub-onz and already made 6x6 books.

Hope that helps!
