Thanks for all the feedback!!

Thanks...this was exactly what I was wondering. I know scraplifting is a great way to get inspired when you get blocked...I have times when I just can't come up with a single thing on my own...so I go to my faves and VOILA! I always can find something that I've saved that gives me a boost. Even if I loosely lift, I do like to give credit...but now I guess I should go back and make sure to pm all the ones that I've lifted from...I'm sure they would like to see my take on their creations.

Billie,
You seem to be the women to ask questions of.. i see your cute little picture everywhere..LOL
Being new I just want to get started.. i love all these pages people have done.. is there a way to copy.. literally without recreating the whole page? I mean literally copy and save to my harddrive and then put in my pictures.. just for use in my scrapbook? I know if I put in a lot of work and someone wanted my page (I guess I have to do a digi page first) I would be flattered.
Any help?
Thanks,
Jojo92

I think it's very nice to PM the person and will make sure to do it from now on. Great question!

Jojo92,

I somehow don't think that's your real name Anyway, no, there's no way to do what you're asking, via just literally taking someone's page from the gallery and physically removing parts of it to put onto your own page.

There are, however, pre-made pages like that, which you can buy from most any digital scrapbooking site. The ones here in the store are called "Page Bytes", and have all of the elements, photo mats, drop shadows and the whole bit already there, you just put your pages onto them. Some designers even include a pre-made page in the kits they sell, I know just off hand that Michelle Underwood usually does this, and it helped me immensely when I was first starting. I didn't use one of her pre-made pages, but looking at it up close helped me figure out how to do some things.

Otherwise, most people who post in the gallery list what they used on the page, some list a bit more detail, so that you can actually go find the particular item. If you want something, and you can't figure out where to get it, either post in the forums "Where did xxx on this layout come from?" Or, PM the person who made the page (probably easier.)

Billie

Jojo, I know Billie pointed you in the "page bytes" direction which is a great place for you to explore if you just want to drop a photo in a premade layout. But I thought I would comment on literally copying and then dropping. You could probably do this for personal use but I would be extremely hesitant to post anything made doing this without express permission from the author. Insofar as I know, scraplifting is considered a compliment but that is different from straight lifting. I would be flattered if someone liked something I did enough to use it for their own inspiration or to try to emulate it but I would be peeved if someone just took it and used it without altering it. For me, the difference is between someone who wants to try some new direction that they feel I have provided versus someone who just wants all my work without putting in any effort. Along the lines of teach a man to fish vs. give a man a fish. I realise from your post that you mean it to be a good thing--but I would definitely contact the author if that is what I was going to do.

There's no way to just copy/paste a layout off the web for use to **** your photos onto. You can either ask her where she got the kit or other things she used to make it, ask her to email you a jpg without photos you can use, or if she sells stuff even better because you can get it from her site. You can't do it from the web because those aren't print quality, are small for faster web viewing.

Many if not most kits have a ****per version you can buy, so if someone used a kit you can go buy the layout from the author. Otherwise, just have to hope she'll send the image to you. Many will, many won't.

Have fun!
