Red face Downloading elements

I tried the advice on downloading elements and when I double click on the elements I have downloaded my computer takes me to a Microsoft Picture Manager. I try to save as a .jpeg instead of keeping the .png (which none of my program acknowledges), it will not allow me to do this. I then try to export and it change it to a .jpg and I still have not had any success. What am I doing incorrectly? I just want to insert the element in my programs (Printmaster or Microsoft Digital Image Pro 9 or Adobe Photoshop Element 5.0 or any of my programs as a .jpeg) How do I convert a .png or a .jpg file?

Thanks,
Lynne'

HI Lynne
Microsoft Digital Image pro reads png files ..in fact PNG is its native format. PrintMaster doesnt but PSE does as well ( though there is no version 5 so i am assuming you mean 3?)
PNG is used a s a file type becasue it keep sthe transparency. If they were jpg files they would have a big white background around them which you would then have to get rid of.

Try these two tutorials for opening files in Digital Image pro and let me know if they dont work for you still.

Unhappy I can not get it to work.....?????

Well, I worked through both of the tutorials and I am still not doing something right. I openend DIP and when trying to open the element it told me that the file did not exist. How can that be - I see it???? OK, when I download from forum etc it I saved it to my file on my harddrive, OK, do I need to do something again to unzip, open and save it again to a another file????? I do not understand why it doesn't find it when it is right there.

If you downloaded a zip file then yes you need to unzip it for the file to be usable at all.. this tut explains how to unzip

http://scrapbook-bytes.com/cgi-scrip...icle_133.shtml

try that and then follow the DIp tutorial again for importing the file.
