Question about saving...

First off I use PS7 (for now) *giggle* getting CS soon, so if you would please answer for both version if there is a difference it would be great

I usually save my layout in "Save for Web" if I shouldn't be doing that let me know

But have some files that are too big for that so I "save as"...When you "save as" the second screen is your "JPEG OPTION" screen, and this is where I get lost...

Matt: I have set to none???

Quality: do I maximize it??

Format options:?? I have no idea what to do there

Size: it normally says 56.6 Kbps, what does that mean and should I leave it??

save your layout in psd format, full size so all layers are intact

Save for Web makes it 72 dpi, can't change that, so it's only good for saving your smaller layout destined to post on the web.

So in Save for Web, on the bottom right next to Color Table, click Image Size and resize it there. Then Save for Web.

If you've already saved layouts using Save for Web, then you can't bring back the layers or the higher resolution.

So, I make 3 copies:
1 psd master
1 Save As jpg at full size, high quality for pro printing
1 Save for Web small size for sharing online, emailing
