Hi I looked at your LO and they are
great!! I think the thing you are asking about with the clearness/quality is more in the photo's then the elements/background papers. That makes me think it is possibly more likely then not it is the "quality" "resolution/ppi" on the original photo's. Did you have to do any clean up of the photo's before using them in the LO's? Did you run the Digital Camera Noise Reduction on them. I usually find this helps a lot on most photo's, maybe even use the jpg artifact removal. They almost look like they are sharpened??
Also it seems like fine point text gets lost easily, like the text of your tag of your little girl in the flowers LO. Making it a little thicker would help that.
As far a uploading it which you seem to have gotten down

now just remember, that 500 pixels is 500 pixels no matter what the resolution. 500 pixels will always look the same on your monitor because pixels are all that the monitor can "see". You only use ppi (or commonly called dpi) to control *print* quality.
