Printing professionally?

Okay, I think I am starting to get the hang of creating digital scrapbook pages (though I still have lots of questions...).

We just have a cheap printer and since I want these pages to be high quality and last, I was thinking about getting my pages printed professionally.

Where do you go to get this done? Do you do it locally? Online? On what do you get it printed? Photo paper? Regular paper? Cardstock? Other?

I've been very happy with color laser prints at Office Max. They have several paper options.....bright white paper...bright white card stock...glossy cardstock

prices are low enough you could sample each to see what you like best.

Agree! Big fan of Office Max. I print 8x8 on regular plain laser paper and they turn out fine for me

I size my original 12x12 layouts to 8x8 and then "drag" that square into the top of a blank 8x10 inch document which I save as a .jpeg. Then I have them developed as an 8x10 inch photo. I use my local Sam's Club for $1.96, and have also ordered from mpix.com online (where they will print an actual 8x8.) I just sent a few off to whcc..com too, but haven't gotten my test prints back yet to be able to tell you if I'm pleased with the quality or not.

Great info Patty! I was thinking of having some printed on photo quality paper. Can't wait to see your reviews of whcc

Forgot to mention that I save my 8x10 document as a HIGH resolution (300 dpi) .jpeg. And Dani, if you are thinking about trying the photo developing method of "printing", the other little thing that I do is size the layout to a 1.75 inch x 1.75 inch version too. I drag THAT to the bottom two inches and add my credit info (designers, fonts, etc.) next to that, also on the bottom two inches. When I get the photo back I use my paper cutter to chop the 8x8 off and the "Mini Me <grin>" version on the bottom along with the credit info is a handy dandy little reference card. I file these in a box of the right length (don't laugh, but I use the bottom of a Velveeta Cheese package!) and when I go to submit to a mag...or just want to remember what I used in a particular layout for another one, I can just go to my little "card catalog" and find the info quickly! I also use this to keep track of what I've submitted or sent for printing by popping little Post-It tabs directly onto my reference card.

You are the QUEEN!! OK I also have found a use for the Velveeta cheese container, ROFL!! I am glad I am not the only one though, I used my container to organize my minidvd's. The perfect fit, but probably not the best archival storage
