I use PSCS and I'm no expert at blending, so I can't believe I'm actually going to attempt to answer this but ... here goes ...

To blend photos together, I have them on separate layers. On my canvas, I make sure that they are overlapping A LOT. Make sure your foreground/background colors are set to black/white. Then I add a layer mask to all of them and click on it in my layers palette to make it active. I use my brush tool, and with a large, soft brush, I paint on the mask (I think that's the terminology!), starting at 100% opacity and then tweaking it as I go - sometimes going as low as 15-20% opacity, depending on how much of the other photos I want to show through. If I make a mistake or blend too much, I switch to white and paint over those sections, which adds the picture back in.

Here's a link to three of my layouts; the 1st has 2 photos blended together. The second has 3 photos on the top strip blended together. The 3rd has 4 photos blended together (this one was my first attempt at blending)

Don't know if this was what you were aiming for or not???

Andrea - thanks for the blending tips! I've been wanting to attempt that look. You've done such a great job on all of them. I especially love the 'sisters' layout that you blended. Great tips. Thanks.

Andrea, just being nosey trying to learn about this blending. I use PSP
Yet I wanted to tell you your layouts are wonderfully beautiful! I can't believe they aren't all one piccy!
well the one with the sisters HAS to be more than one photo unless you have 2 sets of identical quads! hehehe, do you?
Wonderful job! I have just begun and can't wait to make pages like yours!
with much love, elle

Elle...the steps Andrea listed above are almost identical for PSP9, just takes some finesse to get that beautiful look that she achieved!!

Oh, thanks guys! *blushing* . You have no idea how encouraging it is to hear those words! I haven't been working with PSCS for very long and blending/montages are, by far, the hardest thing I have been trying to do.

I really appreciate your comments!
