Hello everyone.... Question for you all..... I know a lot of you have muliple programs and I currently have DIP 10 (which I love) and have been considering adding Photo Shop or Photoshop elements. Depends on what you want to do. What reasons are you considering upgrading? Your goals and learning style are the most important factor, as everyone has different criteria of whats "best"

I use PS, PSP, and PSE, so if you let us know what you're looking for, I can help you compare. I like them all for various reasons

Red face Dont know

I dont know.... I just want to get more creative. Do more things... make more things. I love digital scrapping and want to create. Plus I have started a business doing digital scraps so I figure the more I know the better and the more I have available to me the better. I guess there is not reason except to be able to do more.

Thanks for you help.... can't wait to read more.

Do you have a price point, or are you ambitious to learn complicated software? Do you want to do awesome brushwork, or make realistic page elements?

PS does everything, but it's a hefty price and can be a monster to learn
PSP does great brushwork, and beats the pants of PS in making patterns and customizing the workspace. Limited presets like custom shapes and brushes available. Makes great elements, but more time consuming and less editable than PS/PSE elements. Not quite as hard as PS, but not easy like DIP
PSE is a great price, does great elements, but cruddy brush options. GRant's Tools or the Hidden Power of Elements makes it almost as good as PS, but the brushes still bite, LOL! Lots of presets available, lots of brushes too, great brushes, but the OPTIONS are horrible. PS has better brushes, so does PSP by far. Slightly easier to learn than PS or PSP, but not nearly as easy as DIP

Does this help you in deciding? Any more questions or ideas on what you'd like to do?

ONe thing to think about is using the presets like brushes, custom shapes, layer styles (in PS and PSE) and fonts for commercial purposes. You'll need to make most of your own stuff if you plan on selling grahics or pages.
In PSP you have to make it yourself mostly anyway, but in PS/PSE there are so many it's easy to be "tempted", and frustrating to recreate the wheel just to sell it, yk?

I have to add that PSP has a lot of brushes available to download for free (I have over 400 brushes) just like PSE3. The only thing there I suppose is that since they didn't come preinstalled in PSP that you would have to check out for giving credit to the designers of the brushes. But if you use them in PS you would need to do that also.
Also after searching around I did find a decent amount of preset shapes and there are presets that can be added to your effects that are available to download also.
I think possibly that PSP has the best environment for creating exactly the type of program you need it to be for your usage.
There are scripts also that add a whole other dimension for PSP...
There are also a lot of plug-ins and filters that are free also, most of the earlier one from PS work in PSP, and people are still making new ones that work both in PS and PSP users.

Emma I agree with you but I know for myself that I am "Not" going to be making any kits to sell right now. I think I would be fair in saying that a lot of scrappers are just doing it for their own use. To create a memorable keepsake to pass along...
If that is the case then there is no sense in recreating the wheel!!
However while I am learning and playing at scrappin', I also play more and more with creating my own brushes and elements, so hopefully as I get better at them I will use more and more of my own stuff. But for right now I just want to get nice looking LO's completed.

WOW

WOW

Lots of stuff.... Thank you!!!

But I still dont know. I want to be creative and do more things.... I dont want to spend too much money.

I sell Custom Keepsakes and Birth Announcements.... stuff like that ... so not elements or stuff like that.

I dont mind learning a new program, but I want it to be fun and not feel hard... know what I mean.

So I guess I want all I can get for a good price. lol :-) I have been working with DIP 10 for almost a year now and I am very good at it.... so I guess I want to move to the next level.... I guess. What do you suggest? for me... are their trials you would suggest?

Thanks a bunch!
