PSP, Photoshop, and PSE all have free trials from Jasc.com and Adobe.com

For you either PSP or PSE will work. PS is probably price overkill for you. Adobe frequently runs upgrade specials for registered PSE users to get PS for around $200. Use PSE awhile, then upgrade in a year or two if you want to.
If you use PSP, you won't have to upgrade: it's Jasc's flagship

PSP is Paint Shop Pro, and you can download a 30-day trial at jasc.com
You can also download trial versions of PSE and PS at the Adobe website.

Where did you find the preset shapes? Also, I have tried creating my own ie: 4x6 rectangle, and it does not work the way I have been told to do. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks

Just one item of note (okay, 2). Jasc no longer owns PSP. It is now owned by Corel and I don't think you can call it their flagship software by an stretch of the imagination. Secondly, PS costs a bundle (if you are in Canada, by the time you add 15% in taxes and do the US conversion it hurts a lot) but that isn't the end. I bought PSCS and then, a few months later upgraded to PSCS2. Even with the upgrade discount, it cost at least as much as the whole entire PSP9 program (forget exact cost, I may be slightly exaggerating but not by a whole lot). Point being that PS isn't a one time hit in the pocket but an ongoing pita. PSP was always more than reasonably priced as were the upgrades.

yep, sadly PSP is no longer anyone's flagship since Corel bought it. We wonder if it'll get pushed aside, but with Corel Draw being the vector software I'm more hoping it'll become like Photoshop and Illustrator with vector and raster relationship, working together. I don't recall the existing Corel raster software, I don't think it's painter...not sure.

What program's Preset Shapes are you looking for? Just looking for the tool itself, or the drop down menu, or extra ones to load? What about the rectangle does not work? Perhpas this thread would be better in the specific forum for your software. If you move it, just post a link here to the new thread so we can be sure to find it and help out, preset shapes are amazing tools!

I'd recommend downlaoding a trial for every program ..spend a few days working exclusively on each and see what suits you. You dont lose anything by doing so so you may as well give yourself the most scope for opportunity.
