Does anybody scrap good times and bad times?

I was debating whether to put bad times/disappointments/sad times or other things into my scrapbook. I thought it might be too negative. But life is not all roses...

For example: Didn't get the job, lost the game, car accident...

What are your thoughts?

sad and bad times

Well my feeling is, its part of life so why not? I also wondered about it for awhile before I did it but when I looked back at some pics of my grandchild, I realized that this is her. Like it or not, she shows her temper and cries. So I scrapped it and I like it.

I think your idea of lost a job etc is a good one. It is a milestone and that's what scrapping is all about.
Have fun...Marcia

Absolutely both

My son was born very traumatically and the weeks that followed were very stressful. I started scrapbooking as therapy. I really feel it very important to document his incredle journey. The things that happen in our lives, both bad and good all contribute to shaping who we are. In fact, sometimes the bad experiences turn out to be blessings in disguise. Actually, it is both healing and wisdom when this is the case.

If you check out my gallery, you will a few of those pages mentioned above in a special album/gallery. There is also a fairly recent page that I scrapped of my 18 year old son after he was ***aulted by a total stranger.

Thank you Marcia and Maya for sharing.

I never thought about how theraputic it might be to scrapbook the bad times. It will help me to deal. And who knows, I may even discover a blessing in the disguise in the future or learn a lesson that I can relay to future generations...

Absolutely! I mainly do scrapbooking as a way of keeping a record of my family to p*** on to posterity. Everything in life isn't rosie...I scrap what life is. Although....I don't seem to take many photos of the bad times! Haha!

a year or so ago, there was an article in a scrap magazine (can't remember which one though, lol) that talked about this. supposedly- scrapping memorial pages is very healthy. it means that you confront the issue- the death of a loved one, for instance. the article that i read focused on 9/11.

focus on the positive stuff. like if i were to scrap when my hubby lost his job, i'd talk about how it enabled him to find a much better job, where he's actually happy. it's a valid part of our lives- and we're scrapping our lives for future generations to look back on and enjoy. just think- our great great grandkids will have a wealth of information about how we lived at the turn of the century. why not give them the bad as well as the good? show them how we were able to overcome tragedy, and how it was able to strengthen us?

I found it presonally theraupeutic to scrap one of my worst personal crisis ..a miscarriage I had last year. its not the most creative of pages but its my memorial for the child I lost and for her sister (now sisters) to know about when they are adults.
You can see it here ... http://www.geocities.com/shelleyrae1/layoutspg4.html at the bottom
I think if you are going to say that scrapbooking is about memories it needs to be about both good and bad

I totally agree with Mommymonster... even tho he acted like a total monster today, I wanted him to realize that even in the worst of times (and in his worst behavior) I still love him SO much!
