Saving as .jpg problem

Hi everybody!

I have went in and resized a picture and am trying to save it again as .jpg. No matter what I do it saves as .psp file.

I have used the jpeg optimizer and same thing. It shows as .jpg that I am saving as but when I go to my desktop where I saved it, it is a .psp file...

any ideas?

Thanks.

The only thing I can think of is that .jpg is not ticked in your file association....Click on 'File' /'Preferences' /File Format Associations and make sure that JPG is ticked

Hhmm what if you make a duplicate of the resized image and save that one and use a different name for the file?

I have jpg checked in file associations and I have tried duplicating and renaming ...still no luck. I am going to check my settings in my pictures and see if that is it...

I had trouble a week or so ago with some settings getting changed and it could be in my pictures folder...it is puzzling... I just noticed it yesterday when I needed to resize a photo for web.

I'll let you know what I figure out... if I do ! I even reset my settings to default and still no go...

Thanks!

Happens to me occasionally, but not too often, I mean like once every few months, still haven't figured out why, I would love to know if you do figure it out, sorry couldn't be of help! Good luck!

I think I got it I went into my pictures folder and under tools, folder options and view types. For whatever reason my .jpgs were set to be viewd by PSP. I changed it back to my normal viewer and ta-da...fixed....well for the moment

Thanks for suggestions!

But having folder options and view types set to be viewed by PSP shouldn't affect the file extension in any way. It just means that PSP is the program that would open that type of a program in the futher.
Like I have my PSP set to open all my .pds (Adobe) files when I click on them in my windows explorer..? hhhmmm

Well glad it's fixed for now anyhow!

I'm guessing that the file was always saved as a jpg but that when viewed in Explorer it said something like "PSP 9 Image", indicating that it would be associated and opened with PSP. I know mine does that
