Have you ever wondered exactly what those settings were that you used once while creating an image? Say a certain drop shadow setting that you thought you would only need one time on your LO!!

I just did this, but I hadn’t saved my drop shadow as a preset (as I normally do) and then I applied another type of drop shadow to a different type of element and realized that I forgot to add the first drop shadow to one of my other items. Well for the life of me I couldn’t get it right no matter how hard I tried!

As I sat here almost crying…I thought! Hey that darn History Palette (F3) has got to be good for something! I looked in there, found my instance of my first drop shadow. Right clicked on it in the list and selected “Apply to Current Document”.

Of course make sure you have the correct layer active in your layers palette that you wish the effect to take place on.

Another cool thing was the “Copy to Clipboard” and then open up a text editor like Notepad and paste. It pastes all the info needed to recreate a certain effect. Of course you will have to manually enter it by hand next time, but it is one way to save important information.

Remember however that the History Palette info only remains there while the image is open. Once you close your image, you lose the ability to look at the past history.

Clear as mud…? See I am still learning new things in PSP or maybe I knew it and forgot it! LOL

I learned something else the other day that I was going to share with you, but I forgot it already! It will come back to me...I think!

I always have my History Palette open, it's really useful for making sure you have undone your commands for one thing! I've never used it for checking back on a setting though, that's a really good tip
