Or you can select your brush tool to activate it. Go to the brush tip selection box #1
(where you would pick a new brush tip) and in the lower right corner you see two little
button boxes. Click the first one #2 and this will bring up the Create Brush Tip dialog box
where you can add the name #4 and info about your new brush along with setting the file
location where PSP will save your brush #3. When you are done click OK #5.

So just wondering what I might be doing wrong with that step.

Rochelle I don't have X so I'll leave this for Tracey to answer later OK

Question 2
I was able to get your brushes from the store to show up in the drop down menu but how do I get my other folders of different brushes to show up.

There are two methods you could use: first move your brushes into the My Documents>My PSP Files>Brushes. This is usually where any new brushes you create will also be saved.

If you have your brushes in another folder and don't want to move them you can also try File>Preferences>File Locations. Click on Brushes and on the right hand side you will see a list of places PSP looks to find your brushes. You can add your other brush file locations to this by using the "Add" button and browse to your brush folder location. Also make sure "Enable sub-folders" is checked so that if you have folders within folders they are all listed.

Your Survey Questions
Do you understand about resolution and 300ppi and how it affects how we create digital images for digital scrapbooking? yes

Do you agree to never refer to PPI as DPI from this day forward? LOL Yes

Do you understand how to create a 12x12 inch new image @ 300ppi? Yes

Can you think of a basic PSP question that you would like help with? Getting my ohter Brush folders imported into the drop down list---for now
Is there something that you are just dying to know? (About PSP lol) Once I regain some skills would like to learn about scripts and using the vector tools
When asking a question please reply with the verison of PSP that you are using.

Are you ready to start thinking outside the box...? GASP. I'm an extremely right- brain thinker--I will have to think outside the box? GULP
Add any additional comments you can think of..... Do we make a LO with our creation or just post what we have created?

No we're not looking at making LO's with this challenge, just the brush. We're going to be working with the same brushes for the next 3 challenges as we take you through the variations and show you how one brush can accomplish much more than one brush stroke!

Did I include enough info in the .pdf file to get you all started? Haven't worked through it all yet but the steps after where I'm at seem sufficient
Rochelle
I hope that helps for now

I also wanted to mention that between us Tracey and I will be here almost 24/7, as when she is going to bed, I'm getting up

However please be patient with me - not all of you will know I am disabled and typing can be a bit awkward and painful, but I will always do my best. If my answers seem short or sharp it's only because I'm concentrating on giving you an answer which you need rather than being very chatty. I'm also much better in the morning than the evening

Great way to answer back Jane! I have my extra brushes stored in the path you described. They are in folders by author/site. Followed your directions (at least I think I did- subfolders checked) but the only ones (extra folders) that show up are the one I made following the tut and the one for Tracey's stuff. Have several other folders that aren't showing up in the brush drop menu. Some of those have folders within.

In your File Prefernences> File locations do you have your Sub-folder box checked? Try that and see if the folder within the folder show up.

Are you trying to save the same shape again, such as the heart and that is why you are seeing it in the Create Brush Tip window? Try a different image and make a selection and see if it creates a brush from your new selection. (You don't have to save this, click cancel)
This would be handy if you had say a image/photo and you want to select a certain area of that photo to turn into a brush. It's really not nessecary to learn this method but I wanted to point out that it is there and handy in some situations.

I am heading to work in a bit today but I think it will be slow enough and I will be able to get online.

I'm sorry my answer didn't actually work after all that! I've done a screenshot of my Picture Tubes file locations, it has the most options, so you can see if your options are the same, except it will be the brushes folder:

All my tubes now show up, whichever file they are in. I also add and remove file locations quite often so I'm not quite sure why your brushes are not showing. It isn't possible that they are not pspbrushes is it?

I also use my File Locations like Jane. I think of it like Loading and unloading brushes, tubes or whatever resource into PSP. If I know I am not going to use something I just removed the location and then add it again later if I need or want to.

The other thing that we should point out is that any resource that you have collected (THAT DID NOT COME DEFAULT WITH PSP) do NOT place these in the C>Programs>Corel>PSP Folders. If you ever need to do a uninstall of the program it will WIPE those resources from your computer. It will leave all your resources alone that are in you My Documents> PSP Files folder.

I've been in a creative mood today so I have some brush examples in the gallery here and here's a taste

I've really not done much, just some simple changes for now so you can have a spot of inspiration if you are wondering what to do. The top left brush is all three other brushes merged together

The way I read the tut there are three ways to get the brush saved. I can do it with two of the options. But I'm anal and want to be able to do them all. Ha
1-Here I have the same heart and it doesn’t matter if I have a white background color on my
image or not. Solid, Clean, Pure White will not show up or paint any color in your brush
tip.
Now you can either just File>Export this as a brush tip which I think is the way most of
you would do it.
I can do this one
2.- Or you can select your brush tool to activate it. Go to the brush tip selection box #1 (where you would pick a new brush tip) and in the lower right corner you see two little button boxes. Click the first one #2 and this will bring up the Create Brush Tip dialog box where you can add the name #4 and info about your new brush along with setting the file location where PSP will save your brush #3. When you are done click OK #5.
Can't do this. When I do #2 to open the Create Brush Tip Dialog Box- the brush preview shows whatever brush was previously selected and not the brush/image I am trying to create.
My exact steps for the first time save in the new document are
1- put the heart shape in my new document
2- Select the brush tool
3. Click on the brush tip selection box dropdown arrow
4. Click on the Create Brush tip button
5. Create Brush tip Dialog Box opens but isn't displaying the heart
that I want to amke the brush from3-Or you can choose Selections>Select All or (Ctrl+A) which puts marching ants around
your whole image.
Or if you have a more detailed image that you only want certain selection to be made into
a brush tip. Using your Magic Wand tool or the selection tool of your choice, to select
certain areas on your image to be made into a brush tip.
Then select your brush tip tool to activate it. Go to the brush tip selection box and in the
lower right corner you see two little button boxes, choose the second button to Create
Brush Tip from Selection. Again fill in the name and description of your brush and click
OK.
I can do this one.

I found a tutorial on attaching thumbnails but the SnipIt tool in Vista that I use for screen captures isn't going to work because my drop menus in PSP X disappear when I activate it. So I can't actually show you what happens when I try to do the 2nd method
