jpg's wont open PSP7

Hi All......
All of a sudden my PSP7 refuses to open files when I click on them in Windows Explorer. If I open PSP7 first and then go to the file, it opens fine. Other Apps, like Excel still work fine from Explorer, just PSP7 don't. Anybody got a clue why?

TIA

Chuck, CABGx3

Right-click on the file in explorer, select properties, then click the "Change" button where it says "opens with". Change it to your program's name, and then it should work for you. If it doesn't work, please post back here to let us know.

I appreciate your response. I did the similar thing before, in Explorer, using the TOOLS feature, but I tried it your way anyway, and got the same results. If I change the Opening Program to PAINT, it opens fine.........if I switch it back to PSP7 it fails. PSP7 actually opens, but says it can't open the file, and when I click off that message, PSP7 closes. Yet I can open the file fine if I open PSP7 first.

The only thing I've done different that I recall, is that I recently installed a program frm Nokia to view/download my phone pictures with........if nothing else, I'll try System Restore.

Well, I tried System Restore back to two dates past....no change. Went back to today configuration and still the same. Did notice one thing tho........when scrolling down through a list of image files, it wold not open any .jpg or .png, but sometimes would open a .wmf or a .gif, but then again would not open them........I guess the next step unless someone has another idea is to just re-install PSP7.

The only other thing that might work is going to File>Preferences>File Format Associations in PSP7. There is a whole list there of what files you want PSP to handle: check and see if jpg has a tick by it. If not it may be the cause of the problem.

I hope that works or you may well have to reinstall PSP - fingers crossed

DH suggested to check the file associations also (he's a tech).
With your last post tho, a re-install may be in order.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I had that problem with photoshop when I put another program on my computer. I ended up having to re-load photoshop because nothing was working for me. It worked after that.
