Angry fills too opaque psp

I am just starting to use PSP 7. (up until now I have opened it, got aggravated and then closed it) I have been working with tutorials for the past week or so and just as I decided that psp and I could coexist peacefully on the same computer...... **poof** it turned into a monster.

Anyway yesterday it decided (I swear it has a mind of its own) that all of my fills would be very opaque. I have made sure that the layer palette opacity is at 100% but still very very see through. Any suggestions as to how to fix it that dont require a hammer?

I'm not very familiar with PSP7, I've used 9 and now X. The only thing I can think of is that maybe there is a texture set on your color fill. That can make it more opaque as well. If you click on the color in your color palette, the properties box appears. On the right hand side you can select texture. If it is selected, you should deselect.
If that's not it, I hope someone else can help you.

I agree that it is probably a texture set on your color. But it works a little differently in PSP7. On your Colors palette, you will see two boxes under Texture. If there is a texture showing on these, click on the little black arrow and set it back to Null.

I haven't used PSP7 in a long time, but I still have it on an old computer. You can PM me if you have questions.

The textures are set to null. Any other suggestions? Still considering the hammer.

Hello, I never used PSP7 and I use PSP9 and X now.
When we select the bucket fill tool we also get options for:
Match Mode
Tolerance
Blend mode and an additional Opacity choice.

Is there any additional settings for the bucket fill tool in PSP7 that aren't right out there in your face. Seems like I remember in PSP6 that those types of things were kind of hidden within that little tool palette.

I will go try find some screen shots of a PSP7 tutorial and see what it looks like!

How about if you go to The Layer Properties box, usually by right clicking on the layer in the layers palette it will bring up a dialog window? There settings in there for Blend mode and Opacity that will affect anything you place on that layer. Even if you have your bucket fill tool set to 100% opacity.
(I found this about the The Layer Properties box from a PSP7)
If you are interested in seeing what the layers properites box looks like here is the tut where I found it. http://tutorials.lilyscountrystuff.us/tutorial1.htm

Fixed it and didnt even require a hammer .

It was the opacity in the tool options (which I didnt know existed...told ya I was new to this)

Thank you so much everyone for your help and for your hug Diamante. I needed it. . I was damn near at the end of my rope.

Next question. Which version of psp does everyone feel is the best and which one is best as a beginner.

So glad that you got it!!

Most PSP users will say that they love and still use version 8 a lot!
(I never used that version)

I personally would recommend versions 9 & X but only if you computer is a newer, bigger computer as these large image files will really slow you down once you get the newer versions of PSP.

9 and X are a little hard to find at times, but if you google for a sale one usually pops up somewhere and you would qualify for the upgrade version I do believe, to either of those two versions.

I wouldn't do XI at all, but I have heard that they supplied the patches that fixed a lot of the issues.
As with any of these versions make sure you get all the updates for your version from the corel site.

Nothing has changed to greatly so where if you did upgrade that you would be totally lost. Yes icon will be more real looking, the tools are better, more choices for a lot of things but all in all still the same great program.

I like version X because we now have little icon in our layers palette so we can actually see what is on a particular layer which is really handy for a visual guide.

XI and X2 (the newest version 12) have paint brushes which are now 1000x1000 pixels big whereas the older versions only have the size of 500x500 which isn't the greatest it you like big brushwork.

I am sure some other PSP users will chime in here also with their advice and opinions!

If you have any other questions please ask them!!
