Circle Photo

Can anyone tell me how to make a photo into a circle? Some of these templates I downloaded have beautiful circle ones and I am not sure how I get my square photo in to that circle...

I still haven't conquered the template but I really enjoy these circle templates and want to see what I can do with those.

Maybe I will conquer the templates so I can post one!

It's been a long time since I've used paint shop pro so I really don't remember which tools and what not to use.
But basically you would place your photo under the png circle then put a selection in the cirlcle part of the png circle>invert then select your photo and cut/delete the outer part of the photo.

Gosh I hope that makes sense. LOL

Lori got the steps right and here are the tools and settings to use.

Magic wand set to Opacity, Tolerance 0, Check - Contiguous and anti-alis. With this select/click inside the circle of the template.

Selections>Invert then Edit>Cut to remove the outside edges of your square photo to make it a circle.

Wink My Magic Wand doesn't do magic for me

Thank you for your responses to how to get my photo into a circle. I see that the replies have my favorite tool in there... the magic wand. I think I miss something when I have to use that. I still am having trouble with templates. I think my problem is something to do with the magic wand and the invert/delete...thing.

Haley 64 & Diamante ... am I suposed to "see" something when I select invert cut the outside edges of the photo? I know on those templates I get instructions to select an area, I get the marching ants, and then I am to invert and cut or delete ...but I think I am doing that but apparently I am not because I don't get what I am supposed to???

I am going to try the circle and see what I get but I think I need to return my magic wand cause that baby ain't much magic to me now!

What you will see when you use the magic want to select the empty area of the circle on the template (making sure you have the right layer selected in the layers palette)

You will see marching ants in the shape of a circle. that is the selection.

Now when you invert your selection it means that you are selecting all the other areas outside of the circle. (make sure you are now on your photo layer) then cut.
Inverting will show you marching ants now around the whole square image with marching ants around the outside of your circle. This will leave you with the center of your photo as a circle.

This would probably easier to play with on a solid filled layer and practice selecting/inverting and cutting. then you get a really good visually of how inverting a selection works!
