Hi Tracy!

I am still having trouble with this magic wand tool but I haven't used it in awhile. Can you do the same thing with the magic wand and squares/other shapes like you told me how to do with circles?

I have downloaded/bought some really nice templates but I still have trouble putting the pictures in the "squares/circles" etc.

Can you give me a brief step by step on how to put a image into a space on these templates.

I am copying my image and pasting as a new layer.... after that I get confused...one time I can use the magic wand and invert fine, the next time I do it my images is below my shape I am trying to put it in...

I really do appreciate it!

Thanks.

Ann T

One more question.. is there a way in PSP to resize my image to fit into the template shape? Or do I have to adjust it when I am inverting, etc.?

I'll take the easier question first!

You have a couple of options to resize a photo once it is inside the actual page template:

1. Go to Image>Resize on the Menu Bar. I usually take a guess at the new size (there's always the undo button if it's wrong!) and then uncheck the option the says Resize All Layers. This means the Resize will happen only on your photo layer.

2. On the Tools toolbar, usually on the left in PSP, look for the Deform Tool or Pick Tool. Once you have selected it you will see a bounding box around the photo, with square boxes on the corners and mid-section. On the Tool palette, usually at the top of your image, make sure the drop-down menu says Scale and with your mouse choose a corner and drag inwards until your photo fits the template.

Hope that helps

Try these steps:

1. Click on the layer that has the shape you want the photo take on.
2. Use the Magic Wand to select the shape, remembering to select Contiguous.
3. Go to your photo, copy it and then return to your template.
4. Paste in your photo as a new layer.
5. You will see the marching ants around the shape you earlier selected.
6. Now go to Selections>Invert and the click Edit>Clear or use Delete on your keyboard. Your photo should now be shaped! Clear the selection area by going to Selections>None or use Ctrl+d on the keyboard.

Try it and see how you go

Thanks Jane. Your directions are what I usually do.. or try to do it seems to be that I have seen instructions for some type of software that lets you resize your image to the template box, circle, etc.. I was curious if that could be done in PSP.

Thanks!
