I have seen it suggested to make the element in a larger size than you plan to use it in a LO- less loss of quality when resizing smaller. Also may depend on the way you are saving it- JPG or PNG? Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along.

Hi,

Can you tell me the exact steps you are taking when you resize and the settings used?

What size was the element to begin with and are you resizing bigger or smaller?

All of these things can greatly affect a element.

Well for example I made an element a flower, this is 510 x 502 pixels I want to resize it at 25 % smaller and it looks really badly. I use Paint shop pro and I use the resize tool.

I like to make my elements bigger because I can use it in lot of things, What are the optimal sizes to create elements?

Sorry my English is not good.

I tried resizing a flower image 545 x 438 pixels at 300 resolution. I used the menu Image> Resize and resized it by 25 percent. That made it really small. When I pasted it into an 8 x 8 inch LO it looked way too small. Dragging the selection handles to increase the size made for a poor quality image. Maybe you are trying to resize it too much. Also make sure the "Lock Aspect Ratio"box is checked.

Here is a image to show you what rde talked about and I agree that it sounds like this is what you are doing.

Click on the image so you can read what I wrote on it to help explain what I did.

Grasping resizing or creating at the correct size is probably the hardest thing to explain in the forums. It takes a lot of trial and error until it just makes sense to you.

I think in this instance, you are seeing quality loss is because you are just resizing your image too much.
