Paths in PSPX

I have researched and found that psp past versions do not support paths. Does anyone know if PSPX supports paths? Particularly with tubes? I am trying to make an alpha with a tube and it's nearly impossible to keep the tube straight and to go around the curves without looking like a Kindergartner did it. I am using a tablet and pen to draw with. I also use pscs but it doesn't support tubes so I can't use this feature there.

Thanks for the help,

Brenda

I think this tutorial will do just that. I just found it a day or two ago, so it's interesting that I ran into your question tonight!

Tube in a path

The vector scripts work in versions 8, 9, and X. In 9 and X you have to remember to convert to path for vector text, the ellipse tool, the rectangle tool, and the symmetric shape tool.

Hi, Yes PSPX does support path's and vector layers. We even have a script "vector Tube" which is mentioned in the link Mary gave.
I love it and use it a lot, but I also make many of my own tubes to use with it which is really fun!!

thanks girls! I really needed this info about a month ago and searched the net and thought I found that psp didn't support scripts. I'm so glad I asked the question and learned otherwise. So Haley, here's another one for you. Say I want to run a script on the letter A.... I would like the tube to go straigt down the middle of the and the across in the middle instead of having the tube outline around the entire A on each side. So the tube would just go down each side 1 time instead of outlining it and leaving a center section. Hopefully you get what I mean? Can I do that? Do you have a smart way around that one for me?

Lets see, since this vector tube script only works on vector paths. Since you are making you TEXT "A" in the vector text format. vectors have two sides to every vertical and horizontal line.
Even if I turn off the fill properties and set the stroke to 1 it stills creates two lines around the whole "A". So that means the script will follow both lines up, down and left to right.
But if you use the pen tool and draw a vector line and then run the script it only applies the tube one time to that line. Which is what you want to achieve with your A. There might be some fonts out there where the stroke is a line line with no width to them except for the single stroke, but I don't know which one and I played with a few of them. I also played with Objects>Convert Text to Curves and convert to path.
The only way I know of to acheive what you want to do is to use your pen tool and draw a single line around the inside of your text shapes and apply the tube script to those vector lines.... hth's
Here's a quick example of what I mean http://www.paulbunyan.net/users/hale...ube_script.jpg

Simplyred,
You are right. The vector scripts are really great. They are easy to use too, once you try them a couple of times. If you want to see an example of something made with them, look at the beaded elements on this page. I made the beads as part of a class assignment in a class here at SBB last spring.

class kit

I was already familiar with the vector scripts, so I made a tube from the yellow and blue beads and another of just yellow beads. Then I used the vector tube script. The string of yellow beads was made using the pen tool for a path. I made it white for the string. Then I adjusted the step of the tube so just a bit of the string shows between each bead.

If Sandy Drieschner teaches these classes again, I can highly recommend them. They were called Realism in PSP.
