PSD file Templates in PSPX?

Is there any way at all, well...an easy way...to use a PSD file template in PSPX? I can get a template to open with the layers showing in the pallette, but i'm a bit stuck on how to go about using the layers then. The instructions for PS don't hold true for PSPX.

Tracey, I need help

I'm not sure if this is the answer to your question----You will see all the individual layers in the layer palette. In order to work on the layer you click on it and it will be hilighted. I hope that's what you need to know.

Kelly, I'm not sure exactly what it is that you are trying to do. I understand about being able to open the .psd document is PSP (one of the wonderful things about PSP), and the layers being available. But I'm not sure what you want to do at that point. If you can give more information about what it is you are trying to achieve, I might be able to help.

okay, let me see if i can explain, lol

I got Gina Miller's August Template Sampler from her design website, to try and see if it would work in PSPX. She gives instructions for PSE and PS...saying basically that you just put your photo or paper above the layer where you will want it in the template, then hit CTRL+G and the paper/photo will take take the shape of that layer in the template.

I'm just wondering if there is a similar way in PSPX to do this, OR if I have to do the long way and using the selection button to select different parts of the template and cut and paste in in a new image document.

Does that make sense?

I am going to make a stab in the dark at this since I don't have the template, just looked at the picture of it. For instance, the fabric swatch is probably on its own layer. Make that layer active and use the Magic Wand to select the area outside the shape. Then without turning off the selection, make your paper layer that you want to use for that portion the active layer. The selection will work on whatever layer is active. Click the delete key which should leave you the paper in the shape of the template. Turn off the selection. Turn off the template layer or delete it.

HTH

Hi Kelly, I didn't see any of these last couple posts talking about templates...I answered this question a few days ago, with the same great advice the ladies gave you here!! But mine post was how to deal with an image that was a flatten jpg with a white area... lol

Jen Caputo wrote a very nice, detailed "how to" tutorial and posted it on her blog. Here is the link: http://jencaputo.typepad.com/jen_cap...al_using_.html, it's titled Tutorial: Using Digital Layered Sketches in Paint Shop Pro (PSP)
