In PSP8, if you left click, the entire layer moves. You cannot move just the marching ants (selection area). If you right click, then change to the move tool, only the marching ants move so that you can reposition the selection area anywhere on the layer. I've tried it several times today and it is the RIGHT click that moves only the marching ants. And if I don't change to the move tool, then all that happens is the selection is deselected. But I'm happy!! I can move the selection area. Life is good.

Yes, there are lots of "tuts" on the internet for PSP - but why aren't there any good books when I go to Borders? Judging from the number of internet sites that have "tuts", etc., there are a LOT of PSP users out there. I would think there would be a large enough audience for PSP that how-to books would sell reasonably well.

I have been told by someone who is a tester for PSP, that Corel intends to go mostly in the direction of photo editing, not drawing or creating graphics since Corel already has and sells Corel Draw and Corel Painter. That makes me sad if it's true. Paint Shop Pro was/is a great all around graphics program, not just a photo editor.

Anyway, I would love to see you get up a collection of tips and tricks and post them here occasionally. It would really be a great service to us PSP users. But don't forget us PSP8 users if you do!! (I stick with 8 because that is what is installed on my computer at the office and they won't let me update it - new company policy about personal software - but they've agreed to ignore what is already installed, just no new installations or upgrades.)

woohoooo got it to work!! Use the 'move' tool...duhhhhhh....my brain was totally not in gear yesterday apparently! i've had more coffee today. So it's all better
I'm sure I will come up with some more questions soon. I haven't yet started messing with brushes yet. I honestly have no idea what all they actually do, so maybe I'll make that my next thing to learn about

Simplyred here is a thread that I started way back for tips and tricks,
http://scrapbook-bytes.com/chat/show...highlight=tips

I never used versions 7 or 8 I skipped a few as 6 did everything I needed at that time. Right now I only have X installed on my computer. So I can't help you too much with 8 but most things stayed the same!! I am sure you have seen Suz Shooks pages for tips and tricks?
http://users.adelphia.net/~suzshook/
I have heard the same thing about corel taking PSP into the photo editing field, but I sure hope they are all wrong and that Corel realizes that both the programs have their advantages over the others.
Lizzilou, if you do a search of the Jasc Forums here...meaning make sure you are in the PSP forum and then at the top right you will see a search box, in the orange bar type in the words brushes and you will have more info then you want about how to install, use, import brushes into PSP!
Also I see that you are new here so maybe you haven't seen this site's link yet either http://www.psplinks.com/index.html notice the links on the left side...very important and I think that most people do not click on them and scroll through the list of tut's and resources for making PSP the best it can be!! I have been reading through this site for years and I still can spend hours and hours just clicking and reading through the links supplied!! Have fun!!
