How do I make a velum overlay?

I want to do a picture as a background paper, I want to put a velum overlay on top of it and then add my pictures. I want to keep it for further use.

I used to know how to make it, but it's been a few years for me. I am using PSPX. Thanks in advanced for anyones help! I really appreciate it. This site is so wonderful and full of information for ys "newbies"!

Hi once you have made your vellum paper save it as a .png file and that will save the transparency so you can use it again and again.

There is a book called Jasc Paint Shop Creations, Scrapbooking the Digital Way by Michelle Shefveland that has a nice tut on it. Not sure if that's what you're looking for. It just says select the present shope tool and choose rectangle to match the shape of your photo, makes sure create as vector and anti-alias are marked and line width is 0. On the materials palette make the background white, on the layer palette select the layer contained your main photo, draw rectangle shape to mach the photo. Decrease the opacity of the vector layer to 60%, then layers>convert to raster, then use the selection tool, to make a crisp cut (feather0), draw a rectangular area to remove the vellum, then edit cit and then selections>select none to remove the selection., then effects 3D Effects>drop shadow. It also mentions a variation of the above, by using the old paper texture to the white background and then decreasing the opacity to 70%. Anyway, the book has been around for awhile, but has some nice stuff in it. Good luck.
