Question about Patchwork Flower tutorial

I'm trying to make the patchwork flower, but I just can't get the ellipse into the petal shape.
When I right-click on the bottom node and select Node Type, the menu that follows is all grey, so I can't click on Convert To Line. Can anyone help me?

when you right click you need to first choose the convert to path option and then when you right click again your node editing options will be there.

Hi all, I don't think I've posted here before, but I have a question on this tutorial too. Thanks to the question and answer above I was able to figure out how to make the petal. Now I've gotten to the part of filling in the petals with paper and can't quite figure that out. I have PSP X.

My main problem is with this part of the tutorial:

In the Color Palette, click on the Foreground color and choose one of the background papers you should already have opened.

When I click on the foreground color I get the dropper tool and them am not sure how to choose a paper as the foreground color. Can anyone help?

When you take the cursor over the foreground color, it changes to the eye dropper. Clicking on the foreground color brings up a window called Materials Properties. Click on the Patterns tab. Then click on the little tiny triangle beside the pattern shown to see a menu of patterns. These will include any papers you have open in your workspace. Click on the paper you want to use to fill your petal. Set the scale to 100. Then click on OK.
