Red face Plugins

Sorry, I looked everywhere and couldn't find the answer to this. In PSPX, what is the file extension needed for plugins? Also, where do you download them to? I don't have a plugins or effects folder.

One more question, what are all those files in the presets folder? Some of the files in there are like "presets-motionblur_gentle smoothing?

Thanks,

Laurie

8bf is one extension that you can use in PSp

Presets are liek effects you can add in one click - try a few and see what they do

ButIm sure Tracey or Zee will come along and give you much better detail

Hi Laurie,
If you have anymore questions after reading the tut's on Plug-ins let us know ok!

Ok now for the presets..they are like Shelleyrae said, they hold a set of information to create a certain type of effect to the image you are working on.
Presets are available to brush tips, shadows, textures, bevels and many others. You can apply a preset to almost every effect that you use under the effects menu. There are many presets available for PSP and they are sort of like styles in PS.
You can find some presets here by visiting the links http://www.psplinks.com/content/Presets_Downloads.html also a search on google will bring up even more.
Of course when you download presets, you place them in your presets folder, and I am sorry to say this folder of mine is a mess, as I do just place them all in there loose!!
hth's and have fun with another area of PSP!!

OK, I've looked at the first tutorial and tried to load some plugins. I can get them to work in PSP9, but not PSPX. Is there a difference for PSPX???

Thanks,
Laurie

Nope, do you have your file locations set up in PSPX preferences so that it can locate them?

Yeah, I do, I checked that time and time again. Restarted PSP 100 times. I made sure I had the msvcrt.dll file and plugin.dll file in my system32 folder. I'll keep trying. Now it doesn't work in 9 either. I think I'll go back to make sure I understand thing in PSP that I have never tried before I try to get goodies to work..Oh well, I have to reign myself in sometimes.

The only other thing i can think of is to make sure you actually installed teh plugins - many plugins need to be unzipped and then installed to actually work - see if there is an exe file in the folder?
