Change the color of part of a pic

I don't really know how to explain this so I'm going to try my best. How do I take like lets say a B&W photo and change the color of like the bottom 1 inch of the photo? This is a link to a photo that has what I'm talking about on it.

I'd like to do this to a photo but dont' know how.

Thanks,
Angelia

There would be several ways to do this. I'd probably duplicate the layer. Have the duplicated layer on top. Take your selection tool, draw a retangle across the botton of it. You'll get the marching ants. Then go to ADJUST>HUE & SATURATION>COLORIZE. Slide the hue and staturation sliders to what ever color you want. If you want it on two sides...then just draw a box, that sits up from the bottom and to the right, go to selection, INVERT (which makes the left side and the bottom have the marking ants) and then ADJUST>HUE & Saturation>COLORIZE. Hope that helps.

The first thing I actually thought of was different.

Duplicate the photo and adjust the duplicate however you want the bottom. Then, select the square on the top right, delete, and the original will show through.

Just another way to do it
