shading pinched ribbon

I have a sheer ribbon that I pinched. I am hanging a charm from the pinch. I've painted for years so I'm a master at shading (when it comes to a brush and paint)! I can't for the life of me get my shading to look realistic on the bow. I want the 3-D pop effect as if it's really pinched and folded here and there. does anyone know of any great tutorials on this or have any suggestions they could offer? I did a google and came up with nothing.

I assume you are using the dodge and burn brush? Just like with painting its much easier to build up the shading than do it in one stroke - I dont know of any tutorials on it maybe use a real ribbon for reference?
