sceen capture problems

My Problem:

I am currently learning 3dsm from video tutorials. I want to be able to pause the video and take screenshots at important intervals, so i dont have to reply the video over and over again. This always worked fine for me, and wasnt a problem. Now when i take a screenshot the capture just moves about in psp, i can even press play on the video and maximize psp and the video carrys on playing in psp in the area i captured. I can move the box and resize it in psp and the image moves out of the confines of the capture. When i go to save the image it just comes out blank?? what on earth is going on. Any suggestions would be great.

Video type is avi, Some videos i can screencap from, and others i cant. Is this a codec problem?. Is it not possible to screencap images from videos?

As much as I love PSP, I know nothing much about video and using the screen captures taken from psp. You are best off to either ask in the forum for the 3dsm program or the corel Newsgroup for PSP. I know one time (not involving PSP) but doing video screen captures the resolution of my montior created blank areas, Sorry can't help you more then that.

Oh wait!! "Quote" Video type is avi, Some videos i can screencap from, and others i cant. Is this a codec problem?. Is it not possible to screencap images from videos?"

No I don't think you can use screen capture to grab something that is in anytype of video from the interent. When it used to work fine for you, were you taking screen shots of a video or was it a .html page?

Yes its from video which i have downloaded from the internet, playing form my hd. I have just tried this again, and most videos i can screencap from, but not all. Now i think i need to locate which ones i can grab images from and which i cant. The ones i cant cap from all seem to be coded in XVID codec. So i am prosuming psp can not screencap from all formats, which is a shame. But i have worked out a way around this. I can play the video and re-record it using camtasia resulting in a tscc format, that will grab in psp. Very long way round as i have to re-record 6 hours of video. Thanx for the help, i will keep on it and see if there is an easier way i can do this.

Wow that sounds like a lot of work!! I would then just take a digital camera and take a actual photo of my screen, you can pause these video's right? And if you only want a few of the screen shots..to follow along with the directions at your own pace. You have to make sure and read the Terms of Use on anything you get from the internet and what you are actually allowed to do with their images....

That aint a bad idea, thanx. I will try that and see what they come out like. The video tutorials are free to learn from and use with no limits for personal use only. So shouldnt be a problem as the screenshots will only be for my reference while designing and building my models from the tutorial.
