It could also have been done with some type of a script or two applied to it. Or someone who ran a certain type effect on it, but I don't have a clue to which one either! Sorry both of the above mentioned effects would vary tremendously depending on what the inital image looked like. I agree it could easily be a computer generated image since the little looped shadow under the knot of the tie looks so perfect in shadow and shape...?
