Talking PSPX...deform tool

Right now I am in the process of loading all my apps and settings onto a new laptop and took a quick peek at PSP_X afetr installation (I just couldn't resist)....do we still have the deform tool???? Just curious as I didn't notice it anywhere on my "walk thru"...

Also, I was wondering what everyone thinks of the newest version of PSP??? I noticed a browser at the bottom of the screen which I think I will really enjoy......

Nevermind....I just answered my own question...we still have the Deform option howvere, it is no longer on the tool bar but can be accessed by it's keyboard shortcut of "d" ....it can be added to your tool bar if you wish....I can't live without my Deform Tool, although I am interested in seeing what other options, if any version 10 has to offer in comparison.

The new version isn't bad.. some things are quite nicely done but others are just "eye candy" (ie: the suntan tool...). The browser is ok but I find it is quite slow and still prefer to just find things the old fashion way (file->open with small preview). I think corel is gonna have some major competition with the new elements 4.0 though... they've included some very nice things into the new version that corel should have thought of (auto-download photo red eye correction and the incredible selective targetting tool - makes selections downright foolproof!). Will be interesting to see....

Lets see, things I have found out:
use the left mouse button now to control constraint for your deform tool instead of the right, like it was in PSP9.
Another thing is ALL the brushes come preset to the *Pressure* setting, go into the brush variance and set it to normal. speeds up the use of the brushes, but if you have need of the pressure setting leave it alone. This seems like a big pain if you alter the variences and hit the retset arrow, it resets to *pressure!
There are problems with deleting layers if that layer in in the rename mode, I know it shouldn't be a problem in most cases, must how careful do you click? Biggest problem is that once you make this mistake PSPX shuts down, and you can not get that layer back again!
A lot of the tools have been move or removed from the tool bars, you have to put back the ones you need through customization, they make sure to save your workspace to retain these settings.
I agree with Pesto...what's up with that suntan brush? Who wants to be orange? and no settings it seems.
I like the layer thumbnails and how the layer properties stack it seems to save space desktop space. I can shove the layer palette down to less then 2" and still see all my settings.
All in all I like it, but am waiting for a few patches. There is one out already that was suppose to fix the layers crashing, but it doesn't seem to work for many.

i put my deform tool back in the tool buttons bar, by going through 'view>>customize>>commands' and then just drag and drop the buttons listed under 'tools'
you can adjust the entire program through there

I thought that that the deform tool was now the "pick tool" which is in fact on the toolbar. It works just like raster deform, or seems to anyhow. Is that correct? Is there a different deform tool than this? I don't use keyboard shortcuts--would that be CNTRL D or something else? Just curious.

Good point PixChick!
It sure seems like the tools are identical in what they can do!
I read through the lame help file and searched pick tool and I cannot see that it is different. Maybe that you can pick vector shapes with it, but in both PSP9 & X vector shapes come with the nodes to transform them.
Can't wait to see if anyone knows what and why? I just don't get the advantage?
Maybe like so many of the other tools it's available because of 16 bit mode? A lot of the tools are greyed out for use on 16 bit images!

Talking

I don't know the technical answer but when you read the PSP_X info you would think the pick tool is the Deform Tool but, when I tried to use it I wasn't getting and nodes/handles to deform the image...having said this, ever since I used the "D" keyboard shortcut to get my Deform Tool in use each time I choose the Pick tool it automatically places a box and nodes/handles around my image and I can deform it....go figure.
