Lol.. ok.. It's just a courtey for others so you don't need to download 30 seperate files.

Not sure what add'l work is involved to also include a complete zip - it only take a few seconds! Granted.. space is taken up with this approach.. but space should not be a concern for a commerical site like this. My site provides 10GB of space for $10 a month.. a commerical site like this should easily be receiving 300GB.. space is very cheap these days (ie: the low cost of HD's). But I digress....

In any event... I once again highly recommend flashget to overcome this issue.. 1 click and you download all 24 files at once.. dial-up users need not worry.

I've had broadband for almost 12 months but my memory of dial-up hasn't faded. To download a 50mb zip file on dial-up isn't fun. It slows down the computer and makes it hard to do anything else while the download is in progress. Waiting for a webpage to appear can take ages. Like I said before, supplying a single zip with all the files AND several smaller zips makes double the work for the uploader and the site. Should everyone spend twice the time to upload just to make it easier for some? Besides, SBB has a 5mb size limit on submissions.

Even using a download accelerator program slows things down.

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I think most dial-uppers would rather download one file at a time at their convenience than one huge zip file.

It might only take a few seconds to zip a file but it takes much longer to email it to SBB and much longer for SBB to upload it to their server.

Anyone know how long it would take to email a 50mb file?

And even if SBB Admin unzipped 10 smaller files and re-zipped them into one huge zip, all of the original 10 files plus the huge file would have to be uploaded to the server.

Until everyone in the world is fortunate enough to have cable internet, common courtesy must prevail.

Actually.. I do! I upload large files to my private ftp all the time.. many of these approach 200GB or more. On my connection, 50Gb takes about 10 minutes.. downloading 50GB takes about 3 minutes.

Just for kicks.. I compared the following:
1) uploading/downloading 10 files at 5 GB each
2) uploading/downloading 1 file at 50 GB

1) took 6 minutes to prepare zip files, 15 minutes to upload one at a time (filled out form 10 times), 10 minutes to download (save as each file).
2) took 1 minute to prepare single zip file, 10 minutes to upload, 3 minutes to download.

so.. very un-scientifically, it took 14 minutes to prepare/upload/download a single 50MB file and 31 minutes to do the same for 10 5MB files.

Anyway.. I imagine this discussion can be put to bed now.. but to overcome the single download kits that will remain here.. I recommend a download manager utility such as Flashget (www.amazesoft.com) or Download Manager (www.getright.com).

Even for Dial-up users, being able to queue up all the files for d/l will be a huge timesaver.

Good Luck!
