Another tranparent background ?

I use PSP 9 and had asked how to make a transparent background. When I try to make a tb using the PNG optimizer the background ends up being a really weird shade of blue. If I use the GIF optimizer I get a transparent background BUT my picture becomes...cartoonish (?). If you look at my signature, the filling of the letters is an actual photo of a pile of leaves. On PSP before saving you could tell what it was, now it appears to be camouflauge. How do I keep the original picture? TIA

Whenever I make PNGs, I usually just do a Save As then choose the PNG file type. It always saves my transparent backgrounds.

Hi Susan,
In your file menu/Preferences/File Format Preferences on your PNG Tab, check the:
Load and Save Transpareny to / from the layer transparency and now when you save as a .png you should maintain a transparent BG.
I played around with trying to make my gifs behave like yours did to your words Susan and I can't get it to mess it up. But see if your settings are correct in the GIF Optimizer, click on your colors tab: I have 256 colors, 0 dithering, and if it is set to Standard/web-safe change it to one of the others and then save and see what happens to your image....?
Let us know if this helps you ok?
Tracey
