Exclamation HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can someone please help me. I was using PSP 8.1 till it started to keep on freezing on my computer. It's a copy that i got from a friend. So i took it off my computer and put PSP 7 back on and now it won't let me add elements to my LO's. When I try i get black all around the element. I know that there was an upgrade as i had to do that last time i used version 7 but now when i go to Jasc.com i don't see it. can anyone help me.

I'm sorry but I don't know if I can help. I use PSP 8, but that's all I've ever used, so I'm not familiar with the differences between 7 and 8. My only suggestion is to try corel.com--corel bought out jasc or merged or something and now they are in charge of the PSP line. Maybe they'll be able to help? I don't know if they'll have any info on 7 though, as the most current version available is now 10, so 7 may be too old. I hope somebody else who is familiar with both programs will be able to help!

Well.. you have a problem. The file formats changed between PSP 7 and 8 so that any PSP file saved in 8 will not be correctly opened in 7 unless you used the "save as psp7" option when saving.

I would say you will need to buy a copy of PSP8, 9 or X in order to open these files again.. or you can try to download a trial of X (which you can use for 30 days), open the 8 files, save them as 7 files and then use 7..

Your copy of PSP 8 most likely wasnt' the problem.. perhpas you need more memory on the PC to run this version?

Good luck!

If your computer has all the requirements for running PSP 8 try re-installing it. Remember to turn off any Norton/Mcaffee programmes whilst installing.

I had version 8 and then it was upgraded to V8.1 - I installed it one time with my anti-virus software running (doh!) and it made some weird things happen in the programme. When I uninstalled and re-installed with the anti-virus stuff turned off it was o.k. Version 9 has been much more stable on my computer than any of the V8's were.

HTH,
Jules

If you can't find the upgrade file, try this:

Open your .png file. Go to Masks>Load From Alpha Channel. This should give the png file a transparent background.

PSP 8 had an upgrade that fixed the PNG black fringe/matte issue, but PSP 7 had have to do as Kathryn explained.

A better solution would be to troubleshoot v8, get the patches, and get it running smoothly for you. It's a big upgrade from 7, I think you'll really like it!

There are a lot of things you can do to get PSP running better if you're interested.

Here try this link for updates to PSP7 http://www.jasc.com/support/updates/default.asp
I hate how they changed the site around and hid so much good info!!
Hopefully that is the patch you are looking for!!
Although I agree with what others have said if your computer can handle PSP8 go for it and get the bugs worked out with the patches which you can also find at the above link.
