Help-PSPX
I just downloaded PSPX and love everything about it except one small thing. Anything that is supposed to be white shows up as a very light mint green on my screen. Even looking in the color pallett, the white shows as light mint green. I did try to print something, and it did print white. The backgrounds behind the elements in my scrapbook kits aslo show mint green. I also have PSP9 on my computer, and everything that is supposed to be white shows up white, so I know it isn't my monitor. I hope this makes sense. Since it does print as white, the only problem is my color perspective when I am working on layouts. Does anyone know of a setting that may be wrong?

That is quite strange indeed - I would check you Color Workspace settings to ensure they are setup with sRGB and Kodak Swooproofer for CMYK and Use embedded profiles.
Then.. I would check that Basic Color Mangement is checked... finally, I would calibrate your monitor. Good Luck!

I checked all the color management settings and they are correct. I would have thought it was my monitor if PSP9 didn't have the white. It's just happening in PSPX. It's a cunundrum!!!!

linda, have you ever been able to access the corel newsgroup?
This would be a great question to ask in there. I have never read anything there that mentions anyone else having this problem with their colors.
As long as you have your color management set correctly and it views correctly in PSP9, very odd behavior...

Haley,
I haven't had access to the newsgroup. I read the threads and posts that you (especially you) and others wrote, so that when I downloaded the program, I was ready. For all your comments, I would like to thank you soooo much!! I was ready for the left click on the deform tool!!! LOL.This was the only little glitch. I thought it was my monitor at frist and then realized that PSP 9 looked normal. It does print out white. It only looks mint green on the workspace!! The only other thing I don't quite understand is why you can't save in PSPX to a work folder, and then bring in up in PSP 9. Again, thanks for all your help!!

Linda, I will ask in the newsgroup if you want me to and let you know what they have to say about this mint green condition..?
Ok I am on a need to know basis so I asked!! Here is the reply, even though I know you tried some of this advice. This is a little more intensive as to what to look for and what to check or uncheck...:
It's a recurring color management problem.
Turn CM off and see what happens. Check whether PSPX is using the
same monitor profile as PSP9 (it makes a huge difference). Check
whether PSPX is using the same monitor profile as your display driver.
Check whether PSP9 has color management turned on. Set your Working
Color Space to sRGB.
It's always possible that there's a bug at the heart of all the
"everything looks green/pink/blue" posts. If turning off CM fixes the
problem but turning it on always recreates it, go ahead and submit a
bug report through the Corel website so there will be a chance of it
being fixed.
You lost me a little on the work folder question...are you saying that you can not save something made and saved in PSPX and then open it up in PSP9?
Edited: I see what you mean, if you save as a pspimage, if you click the options button on the save screen you will see that it is saving for PSP10.
I remember this happening also with PSP9 that it wanted to save as a pspimage, I just wanted the .psp file extention. This is really weird but PSPX has an option to save as Paint Animation Shop which saves as a .psp file. I used that instead and now the image opens fine in both programs PSPX & PSP9....
Also in my preferences I clicked the file association box to include the Animation shop file extension...???

Haley,
I was working on a layout in PSPX and saved it to my work folder. I opened PSP9, opened the Browse box, checked my work folder, and it wasn't reading the layout. I went back to PSPX, checked the browse box, opened the work folder, and there it was. I was just wondering if PSP9 and PSPX were compatible for sharing files.
I haven't tried to get rid of the green in X yet. I'll let you know what happens.
Thank you so much for all your help. I consider you to be the foremost expert on PSP. I was hoping you would be in here to answer my question.

Linda,
Here is another response from the newsgroup, maybe between the two you can figure out the color management issue as it seems to be a big issue for a lot of people using PSPX.
Your friend says "I checked all the color management settings and they are correct." I strongly suspect that they are not correct, andas she did not specify why she thinks they are correct it makes it difficult to suggest the way in which the settings are
incorrect. At the very least she will have to set color management working space to sRGB. Personally, I would suggest she simply turn off color management. That will likely return her whites to white and images to looking like they do in PSP9. If
she has color management enabled in 9 and X, she could run the wizard in X and generate a monitor profile to be used in both 9 and X and make sure she's using the same printer profile in both (still using the sRGB color space in X, of course).
Regards,
Thank you Linda for your kind words on me being an expert PSP user, but as you can see I get a lot of help from the real pros!! ;o) I find it so hard to believe that I never, never, ever have any problems running or using PSP, any of the versions. That so many people talk about. It makes it fun for me to play and tweak PSP into anything I want..hehe
PSPX & PSP9 are compatiable but it seems only with the .psp extension. I asked this question also in the newsgroup so we will see what the pro's have to say on the easiest and bestest way to acheive this feat!!
Always,
Tracey or Haley!! ;o)
