Option for pictures other than Square

I see there is a question in here regarding rounding the edges of your picture, but can someone mention a few other option in how to change the shape of a picture. I had some frames I liked with different edges but I wanted the picture in the shape of the edge but not the frame, I hope that makes sense. Anyway, some ideas on how you change the shape, texture of the edges of a picture would be great! Thanks, Laurie

The photo's I did were in a shape of a flower and you can see it in my gallery link "My Loving Daughter".

Tracy, I do not see the link. I looked in your gallery you are so talented. Wish I could just sit and talk with you about everything. I especially love the loving daughter one and would love to know how you did that. My husband bought me psp9 for our Ann. and I have been using 7 for about a year. So know a little about it but have never seen the shapes in the program any help would be wonderful Thanks Lane

Would you be talking about masks? where you mask out certain parts of an image where all you would see is the edge.

http://www.geocities.com/valcali/index.html -is a site that i love her masks

http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/maskcomposite/ - some info about masks

Thanks HTH I have been reading all evening great sites. But actually I was talking about shapes such as star and heart around the edges of pictures. I found 3, Star rec. and square in psp9 but no other shapes. But believe me I love learning about masks also and both those sites were very good. Thanks Lane

Lane,

the one above with loving daughter is created with a mask - or at least looks like it. Think of a mask as like when you paint, you are masking a certain area to be blank - like when you paint, you put masking tape down to mask the area where you don't want paint.

the site i sent you above (valcali's site) has more elaborite masks.

go to layers -> load/save mask -> load mask from disk

at this point you may be asked to promote the image to a layer... you would want to do this.

then you would choose the mask image you would want to use. Remember that black is what will show through as "invisible" and that white will be what shows the original image through.

if you have any more questions, you can go to the help section of the program and type masks, or post here and I can try to help further.

Your welcome. another tip - when you create the look with a mask you want with an image - you can add a new layer and then merge visible to be able to add a drop shadow. it won't add a drop shadow to the file otherwise (at least I don't think it will).

don't worry about feeling like an idiot - everyone is new - it took me a while to figure it out myself when I bought psp7 several years ago.
