Please help me

When I go to add text to my layout I create a new layer (New Raster Layer) and choose the text tool but the tool bar isn't popping up that lets me pick the font, alignment, all that. I am a total newbie to this. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong!

I am relatively new to this as well, but I think if you try a Vector layer versus a Raster layer it should work.

yes, this is true. you should put text on a vector layer.

You can also go to the menus at the top and in the view menu and click on toolbars or palletes and make sure fonts one is click/checked.

Thank you!!! That worked plus I finally found the toolbar!!!! This is going to take lots and lots of practice

For more help on "Toolbars" read the post "How to put what you want in your toolbars thread!!
Once you have your tools figured out everything else is so much easier and you don't have to dig around for the right tool!!
