How to make a Sanded Overlay in PSP?

If there is anyone who can tell me how to make a sanded overlay, I know the scrapartist(Nancy Rowe Janitz) has lovely sanded overlays but how do you create your own?

If there is anyone who can help I would love it so much!

I use brushes to achieve the effect. Use a different color to brush on a grungy looking brush. Anyway, that's how I mostly do it.

I like using the airbrush tool to achieve the same effect. Open a new image with a white background and promote it to a layer. Pick black for your main color. Pick the airbrush tool and any brush tip you want. Make the brush a large size and set the density low. and just stamp around with that. When you get the look you need, save it. When you want to use it as an overlay, load your image you want overlayed, place the image you just made over it and then change the transparency of the layer until you get the look you want.

Thanks for the help I am definitely gonna try it out! I also saw a tutorial for PSE using you dodge and burn brushes to get a distressed look, would love to see if it will work in PSP!
