What am i doing wrong?

Ok, i have bought several word art packages that include the abr brush files for PS and then .png files for other software users. I am wanting to change the .png files to brushes. I tried doing it by selection but when i go to use the brushes they are funky. They are roated, and not black like the orinal .png file was. i thought it was the color i was using so changed it to black in the color selection box but the "brushed word" came out very opaque and not the way it originally was. What did i do wrong. Can someone post step by step instructions for me? i followed the manual but for some reason i must have missed something. Thanks if you can help me

MMm, anytime I have made brushes from .png files I copy it (just in case I make a boo boo) then working on the copy I select around the area that I want to be a brush. It has always worked o.k. for me doing it that way.

Only thing I can think of is that the image may already be quite pale, in which case you need to alter a few settings before selecting it. Try fiddling around with "curves" and see if you can make it darker.

Also check the opacity when using the brush if it is less than 100% then you will get a pale image.

Maybe someone else will have other ideas.

Jules

I found the problem. I needed to reset the brush settings to default..lol i forgot i had been playing with a brush and had it set to a pretty light opacity so when i save the images as brushes it used that setting instead of the default setting. I am so embarrased...lol i guess it was a DUH moment
