Digital Image Pro Question

Does anyone know how to get rid of a white edge on an object.
I "cut" out a person using photoshop7 and brought it into DIP. Of course I had the white background, but when I took it out it left a strong white edge around the person. I tried to use a soft edge but that didn't work well.

Does anyone have any suggestions?????

THANK YOU for trying to help

Use your transparency brush set all the way up and use it to erase and clean up those edges.

HTH!

Niether my husband (30 years in computer programming) or I (Graphic designer)are familiar with DIP. Is this a file extension like .jpg or .png, or is this a program? I'm curious, as it's too bad you can't save it as a .PNG with a transparent background. Are you copying the image and pasting it somewhere else? Are you sure it's DIP not DIB? What program are you going to use this image in? I can check and see what type of file extensions it will accept if I have the program...and I might

I've worked with imaging for years, now, and I'm sure I can help you but I need this question answered first, so I know which way to go.

If your program is Microsoft Digital Image Pro, it accepts PNG fromats. Make sure you cut in close with your eraser, and erase a lot and tight to the subject (zoom in close). Erase enough that you can mask the image with the triangle or the rope. copy the image, open a new page with transparent background and paste it. Use your magic wand and click on the transparent area to see if it will snug right up to your pictue. If not, remove the mask and erase more until you know you have only the picture embraced by the mask. You shouldn't have any white showing, as you have a transparent background that you set up during the NEW PAGE set up when you clicked the transparent check box.

Save this as a PNG as your Digital Image Pro should accept them, according to my research on the product.

I've been making Christmas collages with my digital pictures and do this process a lot. Hope that helps!

Okay, you could always try making a new cutout of the one you have already done. Select Format>make a cutout>with the edgefinder. Trace around the edge again the select soften edges. If you think it needs more softening select "a little more" etc. until you are happy with the result. I find that you need a very steady hand to use the transparency brush so close to the outline of an object so trying the cutout again might be easier.
