I've attached 2 items that I'm using as settings that might help you, especially on your next projects. Under IMAGE and RESIZE in PSP 8, Set your width and height to 100% after you set the box next to it to PERCENT. From now on change you image sizes with your percentage. Be sure to check or uncheck the box at the bottom for whether you want it to effect all layers or just the item you're working on. This area concerns only your visual view, screen resolution, on your computer, not your end result for printing, saving or final export.
You'll notice that in the next section has to do with print size. You'll notice that I have mine set quite high. This is the same size as the images I get from my digital camera. Using this size, I know that what I see is what I'll get when the final product is printed...and by the way...they turn out gorgeous. Because you have already made your picture, these sizes may not work for you this time. You can use these settings for your next project if you want to do a good full page print out. Make sure the box next to this is set to inches.
Next is resolution. PSP 8 calls their DPI (dots per inch) PPI as in Pixel per inch (Set this setting: PIXEL/INCH) and, because you're working on a premade project, set your resolution to 100%.
Keep your project to this size for printing, or having Prints made from a retailer.
BE SURE TO USE THE JPG FORMAT FOR SAVING!
PNGs are about 3 times the file size as a JPG. If you've used this size, the saved JPG will be over 2 megs ( too large for good export, so go back to IMAGE, RESIZE, make sure the "all layers" is clicked, and resize the entire project at 50%. Use the FILE/EXPORT/JPEG OPTIMISED route for saving. Make sure the file is set at 1 for compression. It's the least amount PSP will allow, and I'm sure you want the best clarity possible. The file will still be large, About 11X8 print out size, but will save at between 500-800 KB. Small enough to export, but large visually.
I a 17 inch monitor, and have the monitor settings at 1152X864. After adjusting the monitor dials to suit my needs,I noticed that the tools and wording are alot smaller, but I have a lot more visual workspace. The techies call it Real estate...hehehe. My hubby's been a computer programmer for about 30 years now.
In case you don't know how to change monitor settings, here's the path I use: go to your desk top/ right click/ go to PROPERTIES/SETTINGS tab/SCREEN RESOLUTION and set to what works best for you.
