Newbie - help using downloaded elements

Hello all. I am brand new to Digital scrapbooking, and brand-new to this group. I picked up the Simple Scrapbooks - guide to Digital Scrapbooking because Ihave been wanting to try my hand at this for awhile.

I am using Adobe Photo Deluxe as my software.

I have downloaded a few of the elements that are on this site - but I am having trouble using them. The elements are all shown with a background around them - is there an easy way to get rid of this background so I can use them on my pages?

I hope I am explaining my question well enough.

Thanks in advance -
Allison

Allison - welcome to the site!!!

Are you download them via the link that is given or are you saving it via: right click > save as directly on the photo?

I think I downloaded one. But then another one said that I should just right click and save. But, the background appears on both.

I was having the exact same problem and am using Microsoft Picture It! version 2002. Someone responded to me with some fantastic step by step information that I would NEVER have been able to figure out on my own. Take a peek here:

I hope this helps. If you are having trouble with zipped files still, please let me know.
