Newbie with CD here.....need help

Okay, I'm sure this is a dumb question but I am new to both csb and my software.......Haven't made my first lo yet.........

I loaded the cd and checked out all the cool goodies (kudos to the dtm's-----great job!!!!). But, how do I get them in a layout?

I'm using PE2. Do I open the file in PE2 and then just drag it over to the layer I want it on in my project? I've tried copying and pasting from the browser the cd opens, but it takes FOREVER and the items that s/b transparent are not. That's when I tried opening it in PE2 and dragging the layer to the project in process.

Just want to make sure I am going about this right.

TIA.

Tara

i'm not really familar with pse but i'll let you know how i do it in dip.
once i open up my program and layout (either a blank one or one that i've been working on), i just choose the "add" feature and add the particular item to the layout. when i choose the add feature it opens in drop down window that lets me go wherever on my computer that i want to go. so, i just go to where i have the contents and click on it.

hope that helps!!

yes, thanks. That does help. Even if I don't have an "add" feature (not sure as I am at work), then there is probably something similar. If not, opening it in PE2 and dragging it over to the project should yield similar results I think.

Thanks!!

Open your layout in PSE....open the object from the CD. Then select all...copy...and paste into your layout. It will automatically be on its own layer.

Ok, maybe I am being dense, but open the object from the cd in what? PSE or the browser? The more I think about it, the more I am thinking that the browser is just meant as a way to view the collection on the cd and that I need to open the elements in PSE and follow the steps you mentioned.

Thanks!!!!!

I haven't gotten my CD yet...you might be able to copy it from the browser and paste it in your layout...but I was just referring to opening it in PSE.

Thanks. That is what I thought and just wanted to make sure. Totally dim witted, huh?

I can't paste from the browser; I tried and it's just too much for my computer. It locks all up.

I had better luck with opening it in PSE and dragging it to the project I wanted it in. After that I had some confusion with manipulating it, but that is most likely due to inexperience.

Anyhow, I just wanted to make sure I was going about it the right way and not doing things the hard way.

Thanks again!!!!!!

PSE 2

In PSE 2 I usually open the files I want to use, including my layout. Then I drag the layers from the elements files onto the layout page. This works better for me than copy and paste. I always like to have a couple of ways of doing things. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse.
