Would it be possible to put a gentle reminder that is is customary to comment in someone's gallery if they comment in yours somewhere on the gallery page--a header at the top or something? I guess I'm feeling frustrated that I comment on so many layouts and only a small percentage ever comment back. Thanks for letting me vent a bit

hm I think everyone has different ways they handle their comments, but there are also lots of people, unfortunately due to so many CTs and their requiements these days, that just drop their layouts and run. They never really return many comments at all.

Personally, I try to be sure I hit anyone that has used any of my product, any one that has participated in my chats, and I try to go through the "today's gallery posting" as often as I can. I don't always go through comments on my pages to make comments back - but I do as often as I can.

Not quite sure WHERE we could put some posting reminders..maybe a general idea of ways to spread the love kind of thing could help - but I don't know where it would best be put. Any ideas?

I guess I still don't quite understand people on CT's who dump and run because when I have done layouts for a CT I always made sure to comment back, even though I often post in up to five galleries. I think it might increase the possibility of a designer's work being looked at and noticed if the CT member has a reputation for returning/making comments. I was thinking to have a header in the gallery area that says something like, "Please return the favor and leave a comment for someone who comments on your page." I'm starting to look for layouts done by people I know will comment back--and ignore the rest.

Neisha, I certainly understand your frustration and appreciate the fact that when I comment on one of your LOs that you always reciprocate. I don't get as much time as I would like to comment on every page in the gallery, but I do stick to a couple of "self-imposed" commenting rules - 1) always return comments when someone comments on your LOs, 2) Comment on every LO of a challenge that I participate in, and 3) For every LO I post, I must comment on a minimum of 2 in the gallery.

I don't have a whole lot of time to comment, either, and I love those "rules!" Mine are: Always return comments and comment on a minimum of three layouts a day in the gallery (many days I comment quite a bit more), when I post a layout I comment on at least three layouts in the gallery. Maybe I am expecting too much...

Having dialup internet (time consuming) limits the amount of commenting I can do. I try to return comments and comment on layouts in challenge galleries that I participate in but just don't have time to hit everyone all the time. This thread got me thinking and I have hopefully developed a time saver. I am making a document of usernames and gallery links of commenters inmy gallery. This way they are all in one place and I don't have to keep returning back to my LO to get a commenter's gallery link. Hoping this idea will work, streamline things and make for more comments.

Your idea sounds FABULOUS!! A "friendly" reminder in the form of a banner would be perfect!!

I have to admit I don't always comment right away on layouts that I get comments on because, honestly, I forget to go back and look at them! Once I notice I do return the comment, but it may well be a while. I also don't look at the gallery as much as I wish I had time to, but I try to make sure if I look at (click on the thumbnail) a layout, I leave a comment.

I honestly don't remember most of the time whose layouts I've commented on, so it doesn't really bother me at all if I leave one and someone doesn't in return. But sorry if I've missed anyone and offended them totally unintentionally!
